Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Squat Perch ("we", "us") collects when you visit squatperch.com, buy a Perch or get in touch, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• When you buy. Checkout runs on Stripe, which collects your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, and payment details. We receive your name, email, phone number and shipping address, what you ordered, and your answers to the optional checkout questions (the language you'd like the instructions in, and who the Perch is for). We never see or store your full card number.
• When you write to us. The contact form sends us your name, email, phone number if you give one, the topic, your message, and your IP address, which we use to stop spam. If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp, we receive what you send and the contact details that come with it.
• When you visit. We remember, in your browser, how you found us: the tags on the link you followed (for example, from an ad or a post) and the site that sent you. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit.
• When you go to checkout. When you click to buy, we record how you found us, a checkout reference, your IP address and your browser type, so we can tell which ads and posts lead to orders. If you then order, that record is attached to your order.
• Advertising tags. When we advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google or TikTok, our pages load that company's tag. These tags use cookies to measure whether people who saw our ads went on to order. We don't load them if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

How we use it

• To process, ship and support your order, including emailing you receipts, shipping updates and tracking.
• To answer your messages.
• To handle cancellations, returns, refunds and replacement parts.
• To prevent fraud and spam, and to keep the site secure.
• To keep the records that tax and accounting law require.
• To measure which ads and posts lead to orders. When you order, we may send Meta the order's value with a hashed (scrambled) copy of your email, phone number, name and address, so Meta can match the order to its ads. We don't send it if your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal.

We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't send marketing email. We use it for advertising only to measure our ads, as described above.

Who we share it with

We share only what each one needs with the companies that help us run Squat Perch:

• Stripe, which processes payments.
• Railway, which hosts this website and stores our order records and messages on servers in the United States.
• Cloudflare, which runs our domain and forwards email sent to support@squatperch.com.
• Google, which serves the fonts on this site.
• The shipping carrier that delivers your order, which receives your name, address and phone number.
• WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there.
• Meta, Google and TikTok, when we advertise with them, to measure our ads.

Each of these companies handles information under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Where it's stored

We're based in Canada. Our providers store and process information in Canada, the United States and other countries, where it is subject to the laws of those countries.

How long we keep it

• Orders: as long as tax and accounting law requires. In Canada that is generally six years after the end of the tax year.
• Messages: as long as we need them to help you and handle any follow-up.
• Checkout records of how you found us: 90 days, unless they're attached to an order.
• Server logs: for a short time, for security and troubleshooting.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Order records and messages are behind a password and seen only by the people who run Squat Perch. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, except for records the law requires us to keep. Email support@squatperch.com and we'll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local privacy law, and we'll honour them.

To turn off advertising tags, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or block cookies for this site.

If you're in Canada and not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Perch is sold to adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
